Alfie's fundraiser for Mind

Alfie Berry is raising money for Mind

Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge 2025 · 19 July 2025 to 20 July 2025 ·

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, where all donations go to MIND, a charity offering support for those suffering with mental health. Please read my story…

Why: On the 3rd February 2015, our world fell apart. We lost my dear Mum to suicide after a long battle with mental health issues. Life hasn’t, and will never be, the same again. At that time, although help and support were available, mental health still wasn’t completely accepted, understood, and as widely recognised as it is in the current day. There’s still plenty of work to do, but it’s heading in the right direction thanks to charities like MIND.

Me: The last two and a half years have been a struggle for me. A lot has surfaced and knocked me down to my knees time and time again. No matter how strong minded I like to think I am, I have no regret in saying I completely underestimated the power of the mind until Feb 2023. I sought help and continue to be very open about my mental health, encouraging friends, family, and colleagues to seek professional help. THERE IS NO SHAME. The support provided by charities like MIND is life changing.

If calling a charity or helpline is not an option for you, or you’re scared of repercussions of any kind, lean on those closest to you. My wife, dad, brother, best friends, and wider family have listened to me for countless hours in moments of need – and they always make life seem a little brighter when I most need it.

For a few years now, I have been toying with the idea of doing a fundraiser, but due to work commitments, family life and other life curveballs – I haven’t got round to it. This year marks 10 years since losing my Mum, so it seems to be appropriate to go for it! No half measures – on the 19th July I will be completing a 100km continuous Ultra-Marathon in support of MIND. I ask you all to please dig deep and donate whatever you’re able to support me in raising money for such an amazing charity.

Support services I’ve used – take note: MIND: 0300 102 1234, NHS: 111 mental health service, The Samaritans: 116 123

For those of you that have been there for me, you know who you are…I love you.

Time to get after it!
