Story

Hello there - I'm Alfie!

I thought it was time to let people officially know that I’ll be running the 2026 London Marathon as part of the Birmingham Hospice team!🏃💨

After being inspired by some amazing friends who completed the 2025 London Marathon, I thought why not give it a go? Massive mistake? Maybe… but we’ll cross that bridge when the time comes 🤣

I’ll be running the marathon for many of our friends and family who we have unfortunately lost over the past few years, but will primarily be running for my Dad - Lea Nicholls, who passed away at the start of 2022 ❤️

There aren’t enough words in the world to describe what this man means to me and to so many others. Normally I’d just write a song to show much I feel about him, but thought why not do a marathon this time, as I’m stuck for words? That’s surely a good idea? 🤔

But just to give you some idea of the type of person he was - he managed to fundraise for this amazing charity during his treatment, taking part in a week long 148 mile charity bike ride from Birmingham to London along the Grand Union Canal back in 2021. I mean... what the actual? The guy was a superhero.

Birmingham Hospice means so much to me and my family, they were there all throughout my Dad's cancer treatment and supported us with the most amazing end of life care for him. They still continue to support us as a family, and deserve every penny raised for them. It is such an honour to run for this team and for this charity, they truly are the most loveliest, selfless people in the world ❤️

Donations of any kind will MASSIVELY help Birmingham Hospice nurses and healthcare teams support local people living with a terminal diagnosis - a truly good deed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, I'll see you in London! 😟
