Story
After all the excitement finding out we were having twins. Our world turned upside down following Gemma giving birth to Alfie & Freya at 26 weeks - we are both solution finders in life however this was a situation now out of our hands.
The excitement had turned to hoping both of our perfect children would make it through a difficult situation after both being born at less than 800 grams. We quickly learnt that Alfie's health wasn't good, he fought and fought however lost his battle on 20th May at 8:22am surrounded by love. We can say this is the single most heartbreaking thing any parent can go through.
The support of the team at St Peter's hospital at The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was incredible and the challenges they fight through everyday show amazing courage. As a thank you to all of the team at St. Peter's, NICU we are aiming to raise as much money for them as we can, so they can continue to help babies like Alfie, and help support other parents going through what we have been through. The unit looks after both premature and sick babies, and all the money raised goes into investing improved services, facilities, and parent accommodation.
How we would like people to remember Alfie is doing fun things in his memory and when supporting the charity whether making a donation or doing something positive and fun, like a sponsorship run or raffle. We want people to feel positive in his memory and know he is 'forever with us'.
