Story
Hello everyone! This year Alex and I are running the Sao Paulo Marathon and the London Marathon respectively. We have chosen to run for Rethink Mental Illness, a charity that provides support to those affected by mental health issues, with the overall aim of promoting a more positive attitude towards mental health and reducing the stigma around a topic which is often considered taboo.
This cause is very close to both of us as it has been almost a year since we lost our great friend and schoolmate Louis Williams. A lover of dogs, good beer and Ricky Gervais, Louis was always up for a good time and his dry sense of humour was something special - no matter what mood you were in he could always make you laugh through some unexpected and, more often than not, outrageous comment. Louis was always the first to see the funny side of every situation, which is what made him such a great person to be around. Despite his sarcastic and somewhat intimidating personality, at heart he was one of the kindest people you will meet. He is sorely missed.
Our aim with this effort is not only to raise money for a great charity, but to help people realise that at any given time any one of your close friends could be struggling. If anything we just want this to be a reminder to check in on your mates and be open to having important conversations, whether for yourself or for others.
Thank you for reading this and visiting our page, any sort of contribution would be greatly appreciated!
