Story
In April 2026, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon... which i appreciate will come as a shock to anyone familiar with my lifestyle of frequent holidays, the pub and eating pretty much everything in sight.
Why am I doing this?
Over the past few years, I’ve had the honour of working with an incredible charity called Groundwork. They do amazing work in underprivileged communities across the UK helping people gain new skills, create greener spaces, and build stronger, more sustainable neighbourhoods. (Lots of green and nature projects!)
As part of this journey, I visited one of their projects on the outskirts of Coventry last year. A derelict piece of land being transformed into a community food garden where locals were learning how to grow their own produce, maintain the space, and learn skills to help them find work.
It was all genuinely inspiring. (You can see some rather over-edited highlights of our trip here - plz excuse the dodgy special effects!).
Through our events at ROAR and largely through the generosity of our visitors we’ve helped raise over £10,000 for Groundwork in the past 18 months, funding various different projects.
But, I wanted to do something personally to give back in my own way and keep supporting the brilliant work they do.
So this is the plan... run 26.2 miles. (Something I’ve always said I wanted to do but never really meant it). I’m not a natural athlete, I’m not fast, but i'd love to this and raise some money at the same time!
I’ll share updates along the way as I build up to race day, and any support, no matter how big or small (bigger the better obviously!! 💰💰), would mean the world to me and Groundwork.
Thanks so much for reading and for supporting this fantastic cause. 💚
