In 2020, my stepdad John died after living with Parkinson's for several years. If you knew him, you'll remember what a character he was!

Just before that during Covid, I'd started volunteering for a small Parkinson's charity, Quality In Parkinson's, and the following year they invited me to become a trustee.

I used to do a LOT of running many moons ago, even doing a couple of ultra marathons before my daughter Quincy was born in 2015, but I've been hit and miss with running ever since.

However, I've recently rediscovered the joys of running and I decided to combine it with my charitable work in memory of John.

Quality In Parkinson's is a super small charity and we fund sports and arts activities that improve the quality of life for people with Parkinson's.

Activities like dance classes and art therapy make a huge difference to people's physical and mental health.

It gives much-needed purpose to their day, lifts their mood, and eases some of the physical symptoms they're experiencing as their Parkinson's progresses.

Being a small charity, absolutely every penny counts and goes directly to helping people - all four of us trustees are unpaid volunteers and we give up our free time to do the work we do to help people with Parkinson's feel a little more optimistic and find moments of joy in their lives.

Our founder, Ray, set up the charity after being diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson's at the age of just 39.
