Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats - in seven days! · 9 June 2023

The LFT is a non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian organisation whose mission is to empower the world's poorest to lift them out of poverty with dignity. We believe that the eradication of poverty is not only a matter of conscience; it is a prerequisite for the prosperity of humanity at large.

Story

Ali Bakir Shkara and Ahmed Mahammed are cycling one of the most iconic and challenging routes in the UK: Land's End to John O'Groats - 1,000 miles (1,600km) - in SEVEN DAYS!

Why?

For the adventure! And to support a cause that’s inspired by the love of our mothers: to care for over 55,000 mothers' lives each year in Zanzibar (Tanzania) and give their infants the best start in life. Please support the Lady Fatemah Trust (LFT) in improving maternal care to eliminate any maternal suffering and mortality and to enhance the mental health of mothers and children in Zanzibar.

The LFT, where Ali is a trustee, has been working closely with the Ministry of Health as well as effective and reliable local partners to identify key indicators for the causes and suffering in mothers and babies on the islands of Zanzibar.

We need your generous donations to:

- Train midwives, gynaecologists and paediatricians on maternal health and wellbeing

- Provide equipment and train medical staff in their use.

- Where necessary enhance or build new facilities for the provision of these services.

- Raise awareness of poor mental health and its consequences. This will be done by training doctors, psychiatrists and mental health officers

- Implement the training provided by facilitating mental health practitioners with the resources to reach more remote communities and providing literature by covering costs, printing literature and other means of implementation.

This is a HUGE effort. If you're impressed by the scale of the challenge and the cause, then please donate generously!
