Ali’s riding the Angel – 100km of grit to support refugees

Alison Graves is raising money for ForRefugees

Angel of the Ashdown · 28 September 2025

This is an Urgent Appeal for donations to help us raise £50,000 to continue to run our programme with our incredible and unique choir.

Story

On Sunday 28th September 2025 (this Sunday!) I’m riding the Angel of the Ashdown - 100km of tough climbs and rolling lanes through Kent and East Sussex. From The Wall to Toys Hill, this sportive is a serious test of grit and determination. 🚴‍♀️

I’m taking it on to raise funds for the Citizens of the World Choir, a safe and welcoming space for refugees and allies from over 30 countries. At a time when refugees face growing hostility, this choir offers sanctuary, community and healing through music.

Every penny raised helps secure their Autumn/Winter season so they can keep bringing people together in compassion and song.

Please support me if you can - every donation makes a difference. 💓

For a bit more info about the choir, read on!

Citizens Of The World Choir is the UK's leading refugee choir: we are a musical family that celebrates the artistry, heritage and humanity of people seeking sanctuary, and their allies. We advocate for understanding, dignity and kindness through the transformative impact of music and song.

The Choir relies on grant funding and your kind and generous donations. Unfortunately though, grant funding is rather like a lottery and this year we were unlucky in our application to the Arts Council. As a result we urgently need your help to keep our amazing choir together

Every penny raised through grants and your generous donations is used to advance our mission of healing through music.

Citizens of the World Choir is affiliated with the registered charity, forRefugees (Charity No. 1168435)
