Story
In April 2026, I will be taking on the huge challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for The Matt Hampson Foundation. The Matt Hampson Foundation provides advice, support and treatment for young people who have been seriously injured in sport.
This year our family experienced the life changing nature of spinal injuries and the far reaching impact they can have. In June of this year my thirteen year old niece Tig was hospitalised with a spinal abscess. Following emergency surgery and a lengthy stay in ICU Tig is now in the rehabilitation phase of her recovery. Tig has managed the potentially life changing repercussions of her spinal injury with more strength, tenacity, spirit and courage than I have ever seen before in anyone. With the support of her mum, Iso, she continues to make amazing progress. We are all very proud of her. It is through Tigs journey that we have seen what a lottery the NHS system can be at times. Facilities, waiting lists and attitudes to injury seem to differ hugely and can impact the treatment that can then be accessed.
For young people sustaining life changing injuries in sport, the Matt Hampson Trust can help to provide them and their families with advice, support and treatment that they may not be able to obtain otherwise. This really can make a huge difference to a persons recovery.
It is an honour (and a huge challenge for me personally!!!) to run the London Landmarks half marathon in April and fundraise for the Matt Hampson Foundation.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
