We'd like to tell you a little bit about our family and the reason for organising this fundraiser.

We are Mummy (Alice) Daddy (Rob) Amelia aged 3 and Isla aged 1.

We live in Swanage.

We have decided to fund raise for a place that holds a special place in our hearts.

🩷Ronald Mcdonald House Southampton

In November 2022 our 5 week old daughter Isla was taken ill and needed life saving care from multiple emergency service providers.

She was taken to Dorchester Hospital where she was cared for for 5 days until she was well enough to be at home.

Little did we know, this was just the beginning of a long, worrying and emotional journey.

When Isla was in Dorchester Hospital, it was very apparent to the Doctors that her heart was not working as it should be.

Following lots of tests and consultant appointments, we were given the news that Isla had a large whole and a second small hole in her heart and a narrowing of the top left chamber of her heart.

She would need open heart surgery to repair it.

Isla had open heart surgery on February 16th 2023.

The surgery went well and she is now a healthy, happy and energetic toddler!

Rob and I have decided to fund raise to give back something to this amazing place. We are so grateful to the Hospital and Ronald Mcdonald House, we just wanted to do something to give back.

We will be WALKING from SWANAGE to SOUTHAMPTON HOSPITAL!

Ronald Mcdonald House rely purely on donations. It is a home away from home for those in need of somewhere to stay when their child is in hospital.

Rob and I stayed there for 5 days. Without it, we would have had to drive to Southampton and back every day and we wouldn't have been able to be by Isla's side where she needed us the most all the time.
