Story
Although I’m not a parent myself, it will never be lost on me what it means to see families caring for — or losing — a poorly child. Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice supports children whose lives are sadly too short, giving them comfort, dignity and precious time with their families. I cannot fathom why a children’s hospice should have to exist, but by raising money I hope to support the incredible work they do for children and the families who need them most.
Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice cares for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, supporting hundreds of families both in the hospice and at home. Its services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family, including overnight care, music therapy, counselling, sibling support groups, home visits, and much more. It costs around £6.5 million to keep the doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond; statutory funding covers just 16% of this, with the rest raised through fundraising.
