Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Two years ago, my husband Adam Dyson ran the London Marathon for a charity that had reached out to local running clubs for support and fundraisers. This marked the beginning of a wonderful relationship with LOOK.
LOOK is a small but mighty charity that supports visually impaired young people to thrive. Based in Hereford, LOOK works nationally and offers Mentoring, via a community of 140 trained mentors—visually impaired volunteers who share experiences and life hacks with younger peers aged between 11 and 29 years. LOOK organizes events that empower young people and provide opportunities for growth and connection. LOOK offers resources and programs to support parents and carers of visually impaired young people.
Since that initial year, Adam has participated in another London Marathon. Initially, he served as a guide runner for one of LOOK’s inspirational mentors who unfortunately couldn’t compete due to injury. Despite this setback, Adam continued running and raised additional much-needed funds for Look. On two occasions, I’ve stood at Horse Guards Parade, overwhelmed with pride at the hard work of all the marathon runners and the impact their raised funds have on LOOK. These funds are diligently used to support visually impaired children and young people.
Throughout this two-year journey, Adam has also been involved in other activities with the charity. He organized a running session for local visually impaired children at our Hereford running track, supported by our son Oliver. Additionally, Adam crafted mud kitchens for use at the Annual LOOK Festival.
I’ve been continually inspired by his dedication and the positive impact he’s making. So when the request came for him to run again I decided that it was my turn to become a marathon runner myself and raise the funds that fulfil LOOK’s vision of a world where all visually impaired young people are valued, included and can live their best life.
