Alice and Luke’s fundraiser for Endometriosis UK

Saucony London 10K 2024 · 14 July 2024 ·
We are running the Asics 10K to raise vital funds for Endometriosis UK.
I (Alice) have endometriosis. On July 14th 2022, two years prior to the date of race day, the condition made me very unwell and I needed emergency surgery. I had a 10cm cyst on my ovary, it ruptured and I lost a lot of blood.
Thankfully, I recovered from the op smoothly. But I still live with this chronic condition and sometimes have debilitating symptoms.
And I’m not alone with this. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth. That's as many as diabetes, yet very few people have even heard of it.
It currently takes too long to be diagnosed (8 years on average) and there is no cure!
Your donations will mean that Endometriosis UK can continue to support those affected by Endometriosis through national support groups, information provision and their helpline as well as continue to campaign for change, fairer treatment and eventually a cure.
Please donate, if you are able to. Even a few pounds makes a difference! It will be a huge boost to help us get round the course - neither of us are ‘runners’!
Thanks for reading if you’ve got this far and thanks so much if you choose to donate!
Also, If you’re wondering what endometriosis is:
Endometriosis is the name given to the condition where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the womb (uterus) are found elsewhere in the body. It is a chronic and often debilitating condition.
