Story

This year I have been fortunate enough to be asked to run the London marathon, for a great cause very close to my heart Penny Brohn UK.

This charity was a safe space where my grandma would go to not fight her cancer but to learn to live her life with cancer.

In 2020 lockdown I ran the 10k for this charity and my grandma walked around her cul-de-sac until I finish, it was her way to show me support as she couldn’t be there to watch (at this point she was living with cancer and still showed her “never give up spirit”). One thing she always taught us was never give up, you can do anything you put your mind to. July 2022, I ruptured my ACL and quite frankly wanted to give up I had no hope of getting back to sport, but 2 operations later I have got a place in the London marathon running for Penny Brohn UK.

During my training for my 10k I told my grandma, one day I’ll run the London marathon for Penny Brohn UK and for you. When she passed away I couldn’t quite comprehend running this without her there cheering me on. But with everything I’ve gone through it has put everything in perspective and reminded me not to give up like she never gave up even when she got diagnosed with cancer.

So not only am I running to raise awareness and money for a charity that honestly supports and better the lives of those living with cancer. I am running in memory of my incredible grandma.
