Story
2024 brings a mega exciting challenge for me! From January - June, I will be training to compete against 12 horse riders in the Macmillan Charity race of their lives at the prestigious York Racecourse.
Starting in the depths of the winter, I will be training before work on the gallops in Middleham, with the team at Ben Haslam racing.
The Macmillan Charity Raceday is the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country, raising over £10 million in its 52 year history for people living with cancer.
We will be reaching speeds of 40mph during the race. I wanted to do this race to support a critical and incredible charity supporting families affected by cancer. This year a number of close friends have been hit with cancer and I sadly lost my Grandfather to a brain tumour a number of years ago. This ride is for them.
Collectively we have a fundraising target of £100,000!
The race is held every June, the highlight of the day is the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives race that sees 12 amateur jockeys ride down the famous Knavesmire course. Each year 25,000 spectators enjoy a day with us to cheer these brave riders on as they take on the challenge of their lifetime.
Thank you for your support!
