Miyuki Griffin is raising money for Salisbury Hospice Charity
In memory of Michael

Great South Run 2024 · 20 October 2024 ·

At Salisbury Hospice, we understand the profound impact of a progressive, life-limiting illness—not only for those diagnosed but for their families and loved ones. We offer our patients compassionate, palliative and end of life care, providing comfort, and guidance at every step.

This is our FIFTH TIME participating in the Great South Run (GSR) as a family of two. Now with a big puppy (called Teddy), we are a team of mum, daughter and a Yellow Labrador. Teddy joined our family last summer and has been our cheer leader and my running coach 🐕

The GSR is so special to us - just over 5 years ago, soon after our loss of Michael (my husband, Alice's father), we decided to enter this great running event - it gave us motivations to keep moving forward as we received so much supports from family, friends, and colleagues.

We would love to keep our tradition going and our memory of Michael alive.

Alice is now 11-years old and will participate in the Junior Run (2.5 km) on Saturday 19th October. I will be running 10 miles on Sunday 20th October. This will be Alice’s third solo run (I accompanied her in 2019 and 2021), and my 8th Great South Run.

We are raising money for Salisbury Hospice Charity - it is the charity who supported Michael's wish of being cared at home. They gave him the best palliative care and dedications to his needs, even to our daughter and myself.

We are also running for our dearest friend's family in memory of their loving husband/Daddy who received round clock care from the Salisbury Hospice.

We have been able to get through the darkest tunnel and move forward because of the supports we received from such charities as well as our family and friends near and far.

With your kind support and any donation, we could extend our invisible hands to those similar families in need of supports.

Let's embrace our life, friendship and memories of loved ones💕

With love

Miyuki and Alice xx
