When our daughter Marnie was only 7 weeks old we were told the devastating news that Marnie had a severe congenital heart defect. Her aortic valve was not only fused together on two sides but also one side deformed and thickened. In a nutshell, her heart had enlarged, working overtime since she was born to push the blood out of her extremely narrow aortic valve.

On the 20th April at the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Marnie had a life saving procedure called a Balloon Valvuloplasty. This was done to open up the valve to take the pressure off her heart to give it chance to recover. Ultimately this is just the beginning of a long journey with more surgeries to come, but for now, thanks to the incredible team at the LRI we have our baby girl.

During our 11 night stay at LRI we were overwhelmed by the incredible work done by 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧’𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 ♥️. They not only support families of those with a child with a heart defect, but are also committed to giving much-needed quality medical equipment. The very same equipment that played a part in saving Marnie’s life.

We are in complete owe of the work they do, and we want to contribute. We would like to raise money for this incredible charity that now means so much to us.
