Story
I (Izzy) am running the Amsterdam Marathon with my sister, Alice, this October, to raise money for Wellbeing of Women. They are a charity dedicated to improving women’s health through research, education, and advocacy.
I was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), a condition that affects 1 in 10 women, but it took nearly three years to finally get a diagnosis. We know that unfortunately this experience isn’t unique to just me. Conditions like PCOS, endometriosis and so many others are often overlooked, misunderstood, or misdiagnosed. Too many women wait too long for answers. Too many feel ignored or dismissed when they speak up about their health. And that needs to change!
That’s why Alice and I are running — to raise awareness, to push for better research, and to support a future where women’s health is finally taken seriously.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply cheer us on — thank you 💜
A bit about the Charity:
Wellbeing for Women aims to ensure that women’s lives are not limited by their gynaecological and reproductive health. They do this by investing in world class research, championing education, raising awareness and tackling the taboos that exist in women’s health, influencing guidelines, policy and practice and empowering women to advocate for themselves.
Our research is focussed across a woman’s life course and includes period problems, pregnancy and childbirth issues including preterm birth, gynaecological cancers, and menopause.
