Story
Right. Here we go.
In a moment of what I can only describe as questionable decision making, I’ve signed up for a marathon length night time hike. Yes, at night. Yes, a marathon. No, I don’t run. I don’t even run for buses. Frankly, running downstairs gives me the ick. So this slow, steady, slightly sleep deprived plod through the darkness is my idea of the Everest of exercise, and for someone as movement averse as me, it is a proper challenge.
But I’m turning 37, and I figured it was time to start taking my health a bit more seriously. This felt like a beautiful way to kickstart that while raising money for a genuinely incredible cause.
The British Red Cross Night Hike for Humanity supports communities facing the kind of crises most of us can barely imagine. From war zones to natural disasters, flooding to fires, famine to displacement. When everything falls apart, the Red Cross steps in with comfort, compassion, and the kind of help that reminds people they haven’t been forgotten.
So if you can spare anything, whether it’s a fiver, a tenner, or the price of a flat white you could definitely live without, I’d be so grateful. Every donation goes directly to the British Red Cross and makes a real difference to real people.
Thank you in advance for cheering me on, donating, and helping me not be entirely ridiculous for signing up. Let’s do some good. In the dark. On foot. For humanity.
