Story
Thank you for taking the time to view my page.
This isn’t just about fundraising — it’s about reminding people they matter.
We’re doing this in support of Mind, one of England’s leading mental health charities. Mind works tirelessly to create a society where everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the support they need and the respect they deserve. They provide life-changing services, information, and a lifeline to those who feel like they have nowhere else to turn.
But the truth is — the current mental health system simply isn’t good enough. Thousands of people are left behind every day due to a lack of funding, long waiting lists, and not enough resources. Far too many suffer in silence because they can’t access the help they so desperately need.
We may not be able to change the whole system overnight, but we can change lives. Every pound raised will help someone feel less alone, less afraid, and more supported. If our efforts can help even 15 people — that’s 15 lives lifted, 15 people who may find light in their darkest moments.
Please support us in any way you can — whether by donating, sharing, or simply starting a conversation about mental health. Together, we can break the stigma, offer hope, and make a real difference.
Because no one should have to face mental health struggles alone.
ALINAH
My name is Alinah. I’m 21 years old, and I’m deeply passionate about mental health.
I’ve faced my own battles with mental health, so this cause is incredibly close to my heart. I know what it feels like to be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. I know how hard it is to speak up — to be afraid to open up because you don’t know who to turn to. I know the weight of pretending to be okay, putting on a smile, and hiding behind a mask just to get through the day. That’s why I’m so committed to raising awareness and fighting for better support. I want people to know they’re not alone. I want to be a voice for those who feel unheard and to help people get the care and compassion they deserve.
So please — help us help them.
Every single donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference. Together, we can offer hope, support, and a reminder that no one has to suffer in silence. Thank you for supporting this cause that means the world to me.
TIM
My name is Tim Roach I am a Border Force Officer at Heathrow Airport. Having worked as a Customs Officer for more years than I care to remember I understand the toll that working in a stressful environment can have on mental health. My aim in completing this challenge is to raise awareness that help is available from various fantastic charities such as Mind who work in the area of mental health. In particular I would like to focus on men’s mental health.
• Did you know that ? -
In the UK, suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50.
• Societal pressures often deter men from expressing their feelings. This can lead to a sense of isolation and a failure to seek help and treatment. I'm a massive cricket fan. As I write this, today (the 1st August) the cricket world is coming together to remember former England batsman Graham Thorpe. Graham took his own life on the 4th August 2024 aged 55 after struggling with anxiety and depression for many years.
I hope to contribute in raising awareness of this important issue and to help beat the stigma surrounding men’s mental health. Any contribution you make will be gratefully received. Tim
KATY
Hi, I’m Katy, and I have been a Border Force officer at Heathrow for over 28 years. Having been in the job for so long I have seen and experienced first-hand the tolls that our job can take on us. The confrontational situations, the traumatic ones, the high-pressure working environment, the impacts of shift working. The list could go on. If we are not careful it is very easy for things to get on top of us.
I have also seen friends outside of the workplace struggle with mental health issues. The reluctance to admit they are struggling and to seek out support. This has to change!
Mental health is often the last thing we look after in ourselves, and it can also be the hardest issue to spot from the outside. Mind are a fantastic charity offering support to those in need, the higher we can raise their profile and the more money we can collect the better.
Jumping out of a plane is not my idea of fun, if I am honest, it is the polar opposite of fun. It terrifies me. But, if I can push myself (and I will!!) to do this to raise money that helps support even just one person then it is well worth it! When I spoke to my children about what I’d signed up to and told them I didn’t know how I was going to do it, my youngest’s response was ‘Just jump Mum!’, and just jump is exactly what I will do!!
Katy
