Story

On the 26th April 2026 I will be running the London Marathon to raise money for Tameside CAMHS. It is estimated that around 5,485 children and young people within Tameside suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition (August 2019). This represents just over one in ten children and young people in Tameside. Factors like income, housing, school readiness, and educational attainment can all influence mental health. Post pandemic, this number is likely to be much higher. We have seen a large increase in demand for our service coupled with increased complexity in the conditions we treat. We would like to use any money raised to make improvements to our service for the benefit of the fantastic young people we work with. This may be changes to our waiting room, sensory toys and equipment or improvements to our clinical rooms. We will be lead by our service user participation group, gathering their ideas to make Tameside CAMHS a happier place to be.

Pennine Care Charity is the charity partner of Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust. We raise funds for additional work and services not covered by the NHS core offer. Our vision is to create a happier and more hopeful life for people with mental health conditions, learning disabilities and autism.
