Story
On 12th April, I will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon with my daughter, Charlotte to raise money for the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) Scholarship Fund.
Charlotte is currently studying at the LSHTM. It is only since then that I have realised their position as a world-leading research institute in public and global health. The Scholarship Fund provides life changing opportunities for outstanding students from low and middle income countries. Recent scholars include a Tanzanian data scientist working on cardiovascular and infectious diseases in underserved communities, and a medical doctor from Bangladesh operating in challenging field settings. Every gift enables future leaders to drive change in their communities and make a lasting impact on global health.
This is the first time that a mother and daughter have run together on behalf of LSHTM (although I'm not convinced that I'll be able to keep up the pace!) I'm really proud that Charlotte has overcome some personal barriers in her training and I'm looking forward to celebrating the progress she has made, whilst raising money for this worthwhile cause.
Thank you so much in advance for donating whatever you can, it really will make a massive difference.
