She did this because she didn’t understand her tax liability or why she was receiving letters. The charities helped her achieve a full refund and a better understanding of her taxes.

In 2023/24: 18,667 people like Emma were helped with their taxes, £1,063,139 in tax debt was cancelled for people in poverty, and £315,937 of tax refunds were generated for the people they helped.
