Story
1 in 3 people born today will develop dementia in their lifetime unless we bring about life-changing preventions and treatments.
Dementia is not a natural part of aging. It is caused by physical diseases, most commonly Alzheimer's. The damage to a brain with Alzheimer's can leave it weighing 140g less than a healthy one. That's about the weight of an orange. But this shows that Alzheimer's is a physical disease and through research, we know diseases can be slowed. They can be stopped.
My dear Mum died of Alzheimer's in 2015, my brother in law (66) is currently suffering with Parkinson's dementia, and my Father in law has vascular dementia. What a cruel world it can be. As a consequence of past, and current, family and friends who have been struck by this cruel disease, I am fundraising to help (in a small way) fund this life-changing research.
