Story
Our intrepid team of Jim, JT, Jake, Luke, Xander, Jago and Ali will be running the Paris marathon on 7th April 2024. We are fundraising in memory of two very special people, Steve and Mel.
In April 2022 we suddenly and tragically lost my twin brother Steve, much loved son, brother and mischievous uncle. Then in a cruel twist of fate, in June 2023 we unexpectedly lost my gorgeous and incredible sister Mel. We have been absolutely shattered as a family and miss them both enormously...every day.
Mel and Steve were both keen advocates for wildlife, the environment and conservation. We have therefore chosen the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust as our charity. Sir Peter Scott (Founder of WWT) was a friend and contemporary of our Grandfather. We are therefore proud to support the trust as a tribute to two extraordinarily generous, kind and caring people without whom our world is much poorer.
Ali xx
Wetlands have been taken for granted and undervalued for centuries.
Invasive species, pollution, unsustainable development and climate change are all taking their toll with wetlands under more pressure than ever before. Now the frightening consequences are starting to catch up with us and the planet’s wildlife.
BUT there is hope. Unlike ancient woodland and rainforest that take centuries to regenerate, new technology means WWT can create new wetlands in a matter of months and years. It’s an area where your support can make a real impact.
