We are St John’s Soup Kitchen and Food Bank, and we are more than just food. We provide emergency food and hot meals, clothing, signposting, support, friendship and a warm welcome to our guests.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

If you've spoken to me in the last few months, you will have noticed that running has become the vast majority of my personality - it's been tough finding the time in and amongst everything else, but I'm incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to run such an iconic race, the London Marathon.

As I was lucky enough to get a ballot place, I am fundraising for a cause that I'm directly involved with.

St John's Soup Kitchen and Food Bank is an entirely volunteer run organisation which operates twice a week in Finsbury Park to provide a hot meal and essentials to anyone who may need it.

Unusually for a food bank, it does not require a referral, we welcome everyone as they are. I started as a volunteer about 5 years ago as a way to get involved in my community and today I am one of the trustees for the charity.

Although it is volunteer run and we cook our hot food mostly from donations from local businesses, it still costs £1,500 per week to operate the food bank.

Demand has increased exponentially in recent months due to the increasing cost of living - this has lead to us serving up over 100 families in 1 session on peak days.

Any support you can provide would therefore be very much appreciated - 100% of your donations will go towards those in need.
