Story
This October, I’ll be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025, along with my SYSTRA colleague Nick Ramsden, in support of Dementia UK. This one’s personal for me — my wife Alice’s beloved grandfather, Bernard Perrett (or Backy, as we knew him), lived with dementia for many years before sadly passing away in 2016.
I’ve seen directly the impact dementia has on those suffering with it and their families and carers, so it gives me a great sense of pride and duty to do my bit to support Dementia UK. Please help me by donating as much as you can!
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Its nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
