Story
On Saturday 10th October 2026, I’m going to attempt to run 100 miles in a single day around Druridge Bay Country Park to raise money for Tiny Lives.
But the reason behind these 100 miles means far more to me than the distance.
My two daughters, Maya and Millie, were both born prematurely.
Maya was born at 31 weeks and Millie at just 27 weeks.
As a family, we’ve experienced first-hand the world of neonatal care — the incubators, monitors, uncertainty, long days and nights, and the incredible people who look after babies when they are at their most vulnerable.
Our girls received neonatal care across the RVI in Newcastle, James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough and Cramlington Hospital.
It’s an experience that changes your perspective completely.
That’s why I’m running for Tiny Lives.
Tiny Lives supports premature and sick newborn babies, their families and the neonatal services caring for them. It’s a charity that now means an enormous amount to our family.
How 100km became 100 miles!
In October 2025, I ran 100km for Tiny Lives.
Thanks to an incredible amount of support, that challenge raised £2,805.96 plus £635.50 in Gift Aid — more than £3,400 in total.
I wanted to come back in 2026 and do something even bigger now Millie has arrived.
The challenge:
📅 Saturday 10th October 2026
📍 Druridge Bay Country Park, Northumberland
🏃 100 miles / 161km
⏰ Starting at approximately 2am
🏁 Estimated finish: 6–7pm (if all goes well)
I’ll be repeatedly running single laps around Ladyburn Lake, following the route used by Druridge Bay parkrun, until my watch reaches 100 miles.
That means running through the darkness before sunrise, throughout the entire day and hopefully finishing early that evening.
I’m a competitive runner and I love racing, but this isn’t about a finishing time, a PB or a position.
It’s about Maya, Millie and every family that finds themselves in a neonatal unit.
If you’re local, I’d love people to come down to Druridge Bay and support me during the day.
Better still, run a lap with me, cycle alongside me for a while, or simply come down and say hello.
Knowing there are people waiting around the next lap could make an enormous difference when things inevitably get difficult.
And if you can’t be there, even a donation or sharing this page would mean a huge amount.
£5,000 is the target.
Every donation, however big or small, will help Tiny Lives continue supporting babies and families during some of the most difficult days of their lives.
For Tiny Lives. For Maya. For Millie. ❤️
Thank you
