Story
So, part 1 of the challenge completed: The Flamingo splashed his way round Newcastle for the Great North Run (on 8 Sep), at least beating the other flamingo (!?), 2 dinosaurs and a sunflower! Thank you to all who have so generously given so far!
Now the Bournemouth Half marathon (13 Oct) beckons where Alistair hopes his flamingo costume will give joy to the crowds (and not keep banging him on the nose!!).
Not only was it Alistair’s 20th Great North Run, it’s a special year for Faithworks – Our 20th Anniversary. We’re hugely grateful for all of you who have supported the charity develop its help (approx. 7500 helped out of crisis each year) over the years. We want to continue to be adventurous – new ideas include
- financial experts to help all foodbank clients make sure they are getting all the income they should,
- growing the team to get more people off the street at our new Half-time venue,
- expanding our carpentry and barista training programmes.
So, could you help? I promise (more) photos of a probably hot and bothered “flamingo” at the end of the run!
Thank you so much. Alistair
