Story

Going for a walk doesn't sound like much of a challenge however, after the events of this summer it definitely is for me!

In May as I was leaving my house to pop to the shops a delivery driver lost control, mounted the pavement and crashed into me just as I was opening my front gate, demolishing my front wall - and me at the same time - I sustained multiple major injuries and was rushed to the Major Trauma Ward, St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington where I spent the next 6 weeks receiving the most exceptional care from the trauma team.

Spending six weeks on a major trauma ward was a huge challenge for both my physical and mental health, however the dedicated team went above and beyond every single day. From the unexpected curve balls that required urgent intervention and major surgery to the quiet, simple acts of kindness at my bedside.....I couldn’t be more grateful.

Six months on and mostly healed physically, GT and I are excited to take on the 'London Winter Walk' a marathon distance walk across London to raise money in their honour.

The Major Trauma Team at St Mary’s provides lifesaving, specialist care for people who have experienced serious and complex injuries — often without warning and at the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

Nothing I can say or do will ever repay the care they gave me, however raising funds to help them help more people like me is the least I could do.

Any donation, great or small, would be gratefully received.

Thank you team trauma, forever grateful.
