Story

I’m raising money for Bowel Cancer UK in honour of my amazing Grandad who has shown incredible strength during his fight with bowel cancer.

In May 2023, he started five weeks of intense chemotherapy and radiotherapy. At first, it looked like the treatment had worked and he was having regular check-ups. But in January 2024, the doctors found something during a scan. After a biopsy, they confirmed the cancer had come back – this time in a more difficult place.

This meant he had to have a major operation in March 2024, where they removed the cancer and fitted a stoma bag. He had to learn how to use the bag and go through things that were painful, difficult, and unimaginable – but he never gave up.

Only a few weeks after being given the all-clear, and just 2 months after his operation, he was already on a plane going on holiday abroad – proving just how determined and strong he is.

I’m running the Brighton Marathon for him and to help others like him. This challenge is not just about crossing the finish line — it’s about making a difference. With your support, we can help save lives and bring hope to families facing this disease. Thank you so much for your support.

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity.

We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

We’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
