Story

Hi there, Thank you so much for taking time to look at my JustGiving page.

As most of you know, we lost my Dad July 10th 2024. In his life, he gave so much to other people, I wanted to do something in his memory.

I am doing two Challenges with this fundraiser;

Sunday 26th April 2025 - I will attempt an Official Guinness World Record for the fastest female Bird to run a marathon. I am in a full Penguin costume, even my arms are within the costume. My Dad thought penguins were hilarious the way they pootled around.

7th July 2025 - I am running Badwater135 in Death Valley, USA - the hottest place on Earth at the hottest time. 135miles non-stop. I am spending well over £10000 of my own money to fund the trip, so all money raised here goes direct to Maggie's. The race requires each athlete to have 2-4 crew members to help them safely get through the journey - spraying the athlete down with water, making sure they are eating and drinking. It will be just as hard for the crew as they are in a car where they won't be allowed to keep the air-con on too long as the engine would blow up due to the heat. Temperatures are regularly above 50 degrees.

Maggie's is a Volunteer Centre that helps people the whole way through their cancer diagnosis - before/after diagnosis, during treatment, after treatment. They are attached to NHS hospitals, (not paid for by the NHS) so accessible to people when they are going in for treatment/meetings etc. Maggie's Wirral based at Clatterbridge hospital helped my Dad during his treatment.
