Help Me Reach My WiA Fundraising Goal!

This summer, I’ll be spending six weeks in South Africa teaching maths with Warwick in Africa, helping students build confidence in their skills and making learning more engaging. The programme supports under-resourced schools by providing extra teaching, training for local teachers, and better resources for students who often face huge class sizes and limited access to quality education.

Why am I doing this?

Education has shaped so much of my life, and I know how lucky I’ve been to have great teachers, small classes, and extra support when I needed it. But these things aren’t guaranteed everywhere, and I want to do my part to help.

I also hope to inspire more young people to consider STEM—sometimes, all it takes is the right teacher at the right time to change how you see a subject. For me, that was my primary school teacher, who always encouraged me to push myself in maths. If I can be that person for even one student, it’ll be worth it.

About Warwick in Africa

• Warwick in Africa has been operating since 2006, impacting over 280,000 students across Ghana, South Africa, and Tanzania.

• Over 600 Warwick volunteers have worked in local schools, helping improve the educational experience for students facing significant challenges.

• The programme focuses on teaching maths and English, two subjects proven to be powerful tools in breaking cycles of poverty. Maths provides essential problem-solving and analytical skills that open doors to higher education and better job opportunities, while English improves literacy and communication, key for access to further learning and economic mobility.

• The programme also trains local teachers to ensure sustainable, long-term improvements in education.
