I've been preparing for this Patagonia hike since last June 2024. And it's not just about checking off a bucket list. So, why are you doing this to yourself, Yoojin?🤔
I am setting aside my time, energy, and focus to help those facing a more daunting challenge: the journey back to life after cancer treatment.
If you know me well, you know how much I care about this cause.
Surviving cancer is just the beginning. But the real battle starts you are done with chemo, radiation, and the medical team steps back. That constant shadow of fear—will it return without warning, just as it first appeared?
Survivors face three profound challenges:
1. Physical Recovery: Bodies weakened by treatment fighting to regain strength
2. Emotional Healing: Hearts navigating trauma while living under the weight of "what if?"
3. Life Reconstruction: Piecing together shattered careers and relationships into a new mosaic of "normal"
Dana-Farber doesn't just treat cancer—they heal lives. Their survivorship programs provide the map and companions for this uncharted territory, ensuring no survivor walks alone.
Because surviving isn't enough. We all deserve to truly live again.
I truly hope cancer never touches your life. Your donation restores what was taken from those less fortunate:
1. Rebuild Physical Strength: Transform weakened bodies through specialized therapy designed for those recovering from the hardest battles
2. Find Emotional Support: Create spaces where unspoken fears can be voiced without judgment—where "I understand" replaces "I can imagine"
3. Reclaim Their Future: Help survivors transform from "patient" back to "person" with a life full of purpose and joy
Every dollar helps someone take back what cancer tried to steal.
I'll be sharing videos from our trek so you can join my adventure virtually! Your support helps cancer survivors reclaim their lives—and truthfully, it'll keep me going when I miss my skin care routine and matcha lattes.
