Story
On January the 14th, I will be taking on The Spine Winter Race, dubbed as Britain's most brutal race.
Spine is a non-stop, 268 mile race, with over 10,000 meters of elevation, along the iconic Pennine Way, from Edale in Derbyshire to Kirk Yetholm, just across the Scottish border, all to be done within 7 days.
I'd like to take this opportunity to raise as much money for Kate Miles' chosen charity, Breast Cancer Now. Kate has been a friend for many years and is also a wonderful teacher at my children's local school. Since being diagnosed in 2020, Kate has raised well over £25,000 for Breast Cancer Now, which helps the continued research and support for those with breast cancer.
Kate is a real inspiration. While I am sure she has many tough moments, I have never seen her without a smile and continuing to be positive and she is a wonderful teacher at our local school.
I'm lucky to have the opportunity to do races like Spine but this is as about as far out my comfort zone as I can go. I love running on roads and tracks, so to be on the trails, bogs and hills for so long is going to be a really tough test but using this opportunity to raise as much money for Kate and her chosen charity is a real privilege because she continues to show so much positivity and belief and inspiring others in the process.
Thanks for all your support!
Allan
