Story
Hi my name is Allan.
3 years ago I was involved in a car accident that required me to have a pacemaker inserted urgently. My heart rate was at 20 beats per minute.
2 years later I went into heart failure and atrial fibrillation. Everyday I ran the risk of having a stoke or heart attack as my heart rate would fluctuate between 60 and 240 beats a min.
I underwent heart surgery in September of this year to correct my heart rate.
Without the research and support of the British Heart Foundation it is likely that I would not have survived.
Statistics show about 7.6 million people live with heart and circulatory problems in the UK alone. 4 million male and 3.6million females have an issue with their heart and 1 in every 133 babies in the UK are born with a heart condition, that's around 5000 babies per year.
Please donate what you can to help support a great organisation.
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
