Run/Cycle · 6 September 2024

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

🦷 Stewart & Allander Dental Care 28K Charity Run/Walk/Cycle 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Join us on September 6th, 2024, as members of the Stewart and Allander Dental Care teams raise money for charities close to our hearts. Our dedicated staff will be traversing a challenging 28 kilometers, from Stewart Dental Care in Cumbernauld Village to Allander Dental Care in Milngavie, all in support of three incredible charities close to our hearts: The Beatson, Glasgow Children's Hospital, and Teenage Cancer Trust.

🏥 Teenage Cancer Trust

In November 2019, we lost our friend and brother Murray to brain cancer. It’s difficult to put into words the incredible person Murray was and the immense impact he had on every single person he met.

Murray was incredibly brave, driven, hilarious and a real gentleman- everyone loved Muzz. We remember Muzz for not only the fun times and great childhood memories but also for the way he made people feel.

He was wacky, he didnt care what people thought about him and taught us to see the lighter side of life even in the darkest moments (for those that knew him you’ll know that dark humour was his favourite). Even in his last few months cracking jokes with the nurses in the Beatson and getting his brothers to push him as fast as possible up Great Western Road in his wheelchair.

Something that he was particularly passionate about was the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT). Their support and activities made him feel less isolated - he met so many incredible young people like himself through their groups, London trips and activities. He was an ambassador for the TCT and advocated for a “buddy system” at Holyrood in 2018 which connects young people with cancer.

In his last few months the TCT made him feel comfortable and peaceful. All of the TCT facilities at the Beatson Glasgow allowed him to feel safe and comforted the family.

Please read about the amazing things the TCT do every day to support other young people and their families and if you can please support the team as they cycle for Muzz on the 6th of August.

Murray you are our inspiration and hero - we miss and love you forever.

Thank you for all donations and support!
