Story
I'm going to be swimming over 24 hours again as part of a 4 woman team. But this year I’m going to add an extra challenge in that I need to swim 1k on at least two of my swims, and a total of 5k over the 24 hours. So not only will I be swimming as part of a 24 hour relay, I will be pushing myself to swim further than I usually do.
Im also, two weeks later, going to do a 12 hour dawn to dusk relay at Jesus green Lido in Cambridge. This one will be the crazier of the two as I won’t have fully recovered from the 24 hour one two weeks earlier.
The challenge is in the endurance, the team work and camaraderie to support each other for the duration. It’s the 2am cold swims when I just want to sleep. It’s the hugs of relief at the end of each hour knowing I've just ticked another hour off.
It’s being huddled around the fire pit with a hot chocolate and dancing to keep warm. It’s cheering the sunrise.
I'm doing it to raise money for Level Water who provide 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities. It’s knowing that, one day, they might be able to take part in this challenge with their friends or family because of your donations and support.
One lesson costs just £15. please give what you can to support me!
