My Story
Thank you for taking a moment to be here.
This page is not just a fundraiser. It is a promise. A promise I made somewhere between fear and faith, in the quiet moments when everything felt uncertain, and all I had left was hope.
My vision is clear. To shine a light into the shadows of ovarian cancer, to raise awareness where there is silence, and to fight for earlier detection, because time is everything.
For me, that truth is not theoretical. It is lived. It is twenty-one months between diagnosis and my final treatment. It is every moment I was given that I might not have had.
This is only the beginning, but I will walk this path with courage, with love, and with a resilience forged in the hardest chapter of my life.
Why This Matters
Women's health is not a side conversation. It is the foundation of everything.
Advancing ovarian cancer research not only changes outcomes for those diagnosed with this disease. It creates breakthroughs that ripple across all areas of women's health. Improved diagnostics, better treatments, and greater awareness open the door to earlier detection and more effective care for a range of gynaecological conditions, ultimately improving quality of life for countless women.
And together, we can help change that. Not just with determination, but with compassion and humanity. Because even in the hardest places, life still finds a way to shine through.
Why Imperial. Why This Fund. Why Now.
This chapter of my journey is deeply personal.
The Ovarian Care Fund, through Imperial Health Charity, is doing something extraordinary. It supports pioneering research into advanced ovarian cancer, work that might not otherwise receive the dedicated focus it urgently needs, all within a trusted and transparent structure that ensures every contribution is directed where it matters most.
This work is being led by Professor Christina Fotopoulou and her team at Imperial College London.
Christina is not just a name on a page to me. She is the woman I credit with saving my life, giving me more time, more moments, more memories to hold onto.
And somewhere along that journey, I made a promise to myself that if I made it through, I would make it count.
This is me keeping that promise.
I also hope this becomes something we build together. If you choose to support this fund, you will be able to stay connected to the impact you are making through updates, progress, and future moments that bring this work to life. Because this is not just about giving. It is about belonging to something that continues to grow long after today.
What Your Support Will Do
Through the Ovarian Care Fund, we are directly supporting:
Skilled hands, funding a dedicated Research Assistant to accelerate critical lab work. Their expertise helps move discoveries forward so that promising treatments and diagnostic advances can reach women sooner.
Cutting-edge equipment provides the tools needed to understand how this disease spreads and how to stop it. This enables researchers to detect subtle changes in cancer cells and identify warning signs earlier.
Vital laboratory materials support the testing and analysis of cancer cells to develop more effective and personalised treatments, offering renewed hope to women facing ovarian cancer.
This is not abstract. This is real, tangible progress already in motion.
A Shared Mission
This is bigger than me. Bigger than one story.
This is about rewriting what comes next for every woman who will walk this path after us.
So if you have found your way here, thank you. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with me.
And if something in these words resonates with you, if you feel even the smallest pull to be part of this, I invite you to stand with us. Whether through a donation, sharing this page, or simply starting a conversation, every action helps move us closer to earlier detection, better outcomes, and more time.
Because together, we do not just raise funds. We raise hope.
Together, we will shatter the silence, amplify our strength, and illuminate the path with courage and hope. United, we are the voice of resilience and the heartbeat of change." — Sandi Dekker
