Story
On the 24th of August 2026, our team will be taking on a challenge that is deeply personal to all of us. We will be swimming a combined total of 27 miles in memory of Ian Niven, our son, brother, friend and team mate, marking the 10th anniversary of his passing on 24/08/2016.
Ian was just 27 years old and this challenge is our way of honouring every year of his life, remembering the person he was, and celebrating the impact he continues to have on everyone who knew and loved him.
Ten years may have passed, but not a day goes by where Ian isn’t thought about. He was someone who brought laughter, loyalty, and strength to those around him, and his memory still means so much to so many people. This swim is not only about endurance and distance, it’s about reflection, remembrance, and celebration. Swimming was a core part of Ian’s life and I’m sure he will be smiling at the thought of this challenge and everyone coming together.
We are proud to be raising money for the Willow Foundation, a charity that did so much for Ian. The Willow Foundation provides special days and unforgettable experiences for seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40. The work they do gives people and families precious memories during the toughest of times, and we hope that through this challenge we can help them continue making a real difference.
Swimming 27 miles will test us physically and mentally, but it is nothing compared to the challenges faced by the people supported by the Willow Foundation. Every length we swim will be for Ian, for his memory, and for everyone who continues to carry him in their hearts.
If you are able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world to us. Your support will help an incredible charity continue its work while also helping us celebrate Ian’s life in a meaningful way, 10 years on.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and for helping us remember Ian.
