The Cats

I love cats. I have always loved cats. In an ideal world I’d be rescuing senior/super-senior (or any!) cats so they can live out their best lives. Unfortunately it’s not possible, so I can only do the next best thing and that’s raise money for the largest Cat charity in the UK in anyway I can. I’m already a regular sponsor, but this event gives me the chance to raise something a bit more for the cause.

About Me (briefly)

I’ve never raised money for a charity before, or done anything like this for that matter! I’ll try and share some of the progress in training I’m making leading up to the event. In the last 17 weeks, I’ve gone from 18+ stone down to 14.9 and cut my average trail running pace from around 10-9km/h to 6-5.5km/h. That’s trail running at distances of 5km to 10km+. With just under a year till the event, I’m confident I’ll come in before the ~14hr time expected for the 100k trailblazer challenge.

Side Note

As well as running for Cats Protection (for which every donation made here goes to Cats Protection), I’d like to raise awareness (within the rules of this page and the event) for Tourettes syndrome. Something that affects someone most dear to me. It’s often shown that Tourette’s is nothing more than a “comical” personality, an often overlooked disability. Someone that just throws out expletive outbursts or is just a “quirky” person. The other side of things are sever tics and uncontrollable, often irritating and painful involuntary muscle movement which can have detrimental effects to a persons life. Muscle pain, joint pain, the inability to be calm, constant irritability. It’s something most people take for granted. People suffering with frequent symptoms of Tourette’s Syndrome can have a really hard time when it’s bad. I hope I can raise some awareness to the fact that it’s not just a “funny little quirky” thing, and that it’s a serious issue with no known cure, no direct medication or treatment. Thank you.
