Story

Our very good friend, Dave Garland, was a lifelong, passionate Bristol City fan who sadly passed away at the beginning of 2025.

When Dave knew his time was limited by prostate cancer he took the decision to write a book which he titled “A Love Divine”. The book charts his life from an early age focussing on his devotion to ‘his team’.

Dave provides statistical proof that “Bristol Rovers are tinpot”. Read his account of “The taking of the Tote End”, his experience of standing alone at Cold Blow Lane amongst the Millwall fans and why Dave got a huge round of applause at the Shareholders Meeting in the Colston Hall in 1982!

The book is free to read but donations, however small, for Dorothy House who looked after Dave in his final days would be very welcome.
