Story
Being active is the family motto I grew up with. My dad taught me how to swim and took me to the sea. Swimming became a big part of my teenage years into adulthood. What my dad didn’t know at the time (neither did I) was that one day his little girl would attempt a swim in the English Channel!
Starting a family and going through Covid have paused me from doing sports for almost a decade. I am grateful that in this stage of life, I have met a community of motivated and strong women (#10IronWomen) who share the same passion and are truly inspirational in taking on challenges. In summer 2026, I will take on the challenge of swimming across the English Channel with another five women in a relay team. 2026 marks the 100-year anniversary of Gertrude Ederle's historic swim across the English Channel, which was considered a mission impossible at the time. Now this is my wildest dream to follow in her wake, because ‘if your dream doesn’t scare you, it is not big enough’.
I am raising money for Aspire, a UK charity that supports people living with spinal injuries. They provide practical help in rebuilding independence, resilience, and hope after devastating changes in life. This resonates with me deeply, especially for those who have injured themselves during sports and would hope to be active again in another platform or setting.
As a mother of two young children, I want to be a role model for them (and others) by showing that you are stronger than you think and can do scary things. Together with my team, we will be training, pushing ourselves, and preparing to honor a century of courage and female endurance. From cold-water mornings to long ocean sessions, every stroke brings us closer to our moment of pride.
I kindly ask for your support as we embark on this incredible journey together. Your donations, encouragements, and even shares mean more than you know as we strive to make a difference.
