Story
U3Z are taking part in the First Give programme and are raising money for South West Surrey Domestic Abuse Service (SWSDA), a charity that supports people affected by domestic abuse in the boroughs of Guildford and Waverley. When deciding which charity to support, we were concerned about the impact domestic abuse has on individuals and families in our local community and the challenges survivors face every day.
SWSDA provides free, confidential and independent support, offering practical advice, emotional guidance and ongoing help to empower people to live safely and independently. Their work includes one-to-one support, group and peer sessions, specialist services for children and young people, and tailored advice for the LGBTQ+ community.
We are raising money and awareness for SWSDA because we believe everyone deserves to live a life free from fear and harm. On 26th March 2026, we will be completing a 10-mile sponsored walk to support the charity and raise awareness of their vital work. We are aiming to raise over £1,000 through this event.
