Barker Boys fundraiser for CHUMS Charity

Amanda Barker is raising money for Chums Charity
In memory of Ben Barker

Kids Triathlon · 30 May 2026

CHUMS is a Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing Service for children, young people & adults in Bedfordshire. We support those who have been bereaved, traumatised or suffer with other mental health difficulties. With the right support we can help build resilience and give them hope for the future.

Story

The Barker Boys are raising money in memory of their Dad Ben who sadly passed away suddenly 10 years ago.

Ben was a somewhat laid back competitor taking part in a number of triathlons which despite the physical challenge he thoroughly enjoyed for the sense of achievement, wonderful atmosphere and camaraderie.

Inspired by their Dad the boys are taking part in their first triathlon on 30th May. Following in his footsteps they have taken a laid back approach to training but have age on their side!

They wanted to give back to a local charity which helped us deal with our loss as a young family.

CHUMS hopes to provide mental health and emotional wellbeing support to as many children and young people across Bedfordshire as we can. Friends of CHUMS currently funds 5 services which includes the Bedfordshire Bereavement Service.

Without support from fundraisers and donors CHUMS would not be able to provide support to the children, young people and families who otherwise may not receive help when they need it most.
