Story
As part of my fundraising efforts for Fight for Sight, I am taking on the Trek the Alps Challenge in September 2026. A tough but scenic 46km hiking challenging terrain through the Mont Blanc region of The Alps. This is going to be an exciting challenge for me, but still a challenge. A strange country, meeting new people, hiking, something I have never done before, but I love an adventure so I know I can do it.
My aim is to raise vital funds for Fight for Sight so they can continue with the sight saving research that could help improve the lives of people with Stargardt Disease.
Up to 1 in 8,000 people in the UK could be affected by this genetic and degenerative condition.
Researchers are exploring potential new treatments that can slow down or stop sight loss from Stargardt disease, which they hope will lead to effective therapies in future.
Following initial research funded by Fight for Sight for another inherited eye condition, scientists at the University of Oxford have developed a new technology that is currently being used to test a potential treatment for Stargardt disease, using a harmless virus to carry the correct genetic information into cells.
Your support will help the charity to continue to save sight, change lives and give us hope for a cure in the not to distant future - Thank you ☺️
