Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everyone, I’m Amanda-Jane, and I would have really love to of done the skydive myself but unfortunately certain things have stopped me. So, my best friend Crystal, my wonderful husband Jason and his best mate Simon have decided to do it on my behalf. They will be doing it in 3 weeks time.
The Havens Hospice has become a big part of my family over the past year. I didn’t think it would be considering I am only 42. I have been an in patient for respite, done creative therapy, creative workshops and also had complimentary therapies like massage and reiki. I found out in 2019 at The Royal Brompton Hospital in London that the heart condition I have got is incurable and they got a palliative nurse to come down and talk to me. At that precise moment in time I didn’t know what to think, but all I could think about was my family at home - I had to be strong for them. When Havens Hospice got involved I thought that’s it, there’s no going back, however, all the staff that work there and the volunteers are so nice and they explained everything me. If you have any worries or queries they take the time to listen and talk to you. Before I started coming to Havens I was suffering with really bad depression. However, from going there regularly and meeting people with the same illness as myself, I was able to accept it more. I also learnt some new skills which is amazing. Without the funding the Hospice wouldn’t be able to do any of the things that they do for any of us. I am proud of Jay, Crystal & Simon for taking on this challenge of a skydive and I really hope we can raise as much money as we can for them as it is such a fantastic cause.
