Micks story….”I have been volunteering at Hayward House since 2012 and love spending time with both patients and staff in Day Therapy.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and subsequently had part of the offending kidney removed.
In 2025, I was given the news that my cancer had returned and in October 2025 I underwent surgery to remove the kidney completely. Just six weeks after surgery, I was back volunteering and my medical team are pleased with my recovery.”
The support from Hayward House staff and the courage of its patients have inspired Mick and aided his speedy recovery.
As a nurse at Hayward House Day Therapy and Outpatients and knowing Mick’s cancer journey we put our heads together. At 78 years young, Mick agreed to taking on a skydive with me in August 2026. Together we hope to raise funds for Hayward House and show that even while facing or recovering from cancer, life can still be lived to the fullest.
Please support our challenge and help Hayward House continue its incredible work.
