Story

We are talking part in this trek together as both of our families have had our lives affected by Alzheimer's, which we have seen is a cruel and progressive disease.

Mandy and Harrisons story

Dementia is a very difficult story to tell but changes first became apparent with Nana in 2012. Over the next few years Nanas journey continued with the support of the whole family who helped her and loved her every step of the way along the long and winding road that is dementia.

There is one thing dementia couldn't take away, love. Love is not a memory - its a feeling that resides in your heart. And we loved Nana more than words can describe and tried to fill her changing world with smiles, laughter and comfort.

Mum we fought with you, we will remember and love you always, until one day the sun will rise over a day without dementia.

Nana lost her first to dementia in May 2018.

Charlene and Gracie's story

Mum's health journey started in April 2023 being diagnosed with Lung Cancer. Mum's chemotherapy and radiotherapy started in September until she had to be hospitalised and suffered a number of seizures , with expected encephalitis. However , a neurologist has since confirmed it is Alzheimer's, and mum is affected by memory loss in not remembering her own home, and her mobility is poor in needing assistance with most activities .

Mum , you have been through so much , we all love you so incredibly much , and we promise to support you, love you and look after you always, as you have always have done for us.
