Amanda and Lynn's Marathon fundraiser for Bowel Cancer UK

adidas Manchester Marathon 2024 · 14 April 2024 ·
On 14th April, Lynn and I are very excited to be running the Manchester Marathon together, with the group name of ‘Solemates!’
Here is why we are fundraising for Bowel Cancer UK! On New Year's Eve 2021, I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. During 2022 I had an operation to remove the tumour, followed by 2 lots of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. It was quite a journey, but if there could be a bright side, I saw it, and my experience was a positive one, with the best outcome!
The treatment that I had from Lincoln and QMC, Nottingham was wonderful, and continues to be so - and the support from family, friends and colleagues was, and is, amazing.
In April 2022 I ran the Manchester Marathon, just before my treatment started. Lynn was there to support and offer well needed cheers of support, along with both families!
In 2023 Lynn and I both set out to run the Leeds marathon but unfortunately I developed an injury and pulled out, leaving Lynn to run solo, but again with lots of support. She was amazing!
So, finally we are running together - in the Manchester Marathon! Our training is going really well - we talk too much, and have many laughs but are very serious about doing the best we possibly can!
Lynn and I have been friends for almost 50 years - the photos I have attached are some goofy ones from just some of our adventures over the past 2 years - the oldest from my Manchester marathon in 2022 and the most recent on our trip to Iceland! You can imagine just how many more we have, spanning many decades!
We do hope that you can support us - and cheer us on. It would mean such a lot! Thank you! ❤️🏃🏽♀️
